LIVONIA, Mich. – Co-op Services Credit Union is hoping to make savings fun for children up to age 17 with its Next Generation Savings Club. According to Co-op Services CU CEO Anthony Carnarvon, the launch of the new club is designed to enhance the credit union's ongoing efforts to educate members about taking financial responsibility. "Our experience with members tells us that financial literacy is important to achieving financial independence and success," said Carnarvon. "The younger we can start to teach members how to save and manage their money, the better prepared they will be when they enter adulthood." Program participants will receive a special passbook, membership card and will be eligible for various savings incentive awards. In addition, Co-op Services CU will sponsor several school-related programs and issue quarterly newsletters-one for children up to age 13 and the other for teens.
