SAN FRANCISCO - Charles Schwab recently launched a credit card that can be linked to a Schwab investment account but is also available to non-Schwab account holders. The Visa rewards card has no annual fee, a 6.49% variable interest rate, and offers exchange points for free trades in Schwab investment account. Industry analysts said since Schwab cut trading costs by about one-third for many customers, this reward may not be as attractive. The Schwab card yields one rewards point per dollar spent and a relatively standard slate of rewards from which to choose from including cash back, merchandise, free travel (including airline tickets and hotel rooms), and discounts on cruises.
