HOUSTON – StarTrust FCU used the backdrop of the Allen Center office complex in downtown Houston to hold its third annual Rev `Em Up Auto Event. The credit union pulled off the event in partnership with Credit Union Acceptance Corp., a car-buying service for credit union members. A dozen local area dealerships were invited to showcase their latest model vehicles at the event. More than 1,200 people attended the event at the Allen Center which consists of three multi-story office buildings and a hotel and which in addition to the car show featured music, food from local restaurateurs, appearances by Houston Texans cheerleaders, door prizes and giveaways. As a tenant of Allen Center, SunTrust FCU gained the cooperation of the property management company in publicizing the event to tenants of the company. The credit union also posted flyers in skywalks adjoining the buildings, and credit union staff also set up a table outside their office one week before the event and promoted the event. At the auto show, SunTrust FCU also distributed an "at a glance" flyer that explained the CU's services and provided contact information. StarTrust has $50 million in assets and 10,000 members.
