Oklahoma League Considers Relocation of Main Office to Oklahoma City

TULSA, Okla. – The Oklahoma Credit Union League is considering a relocation of its main office to Oklahoma City, in part, to stay closer to lawmakers in the state capital. The League has maintained its headquarters in Tulsa for 70 years, but a resolution adopted at the annual meeting two weeks ago urged a study be done to look at moving the headquarters to the state’s largest city. The resolution asked the League make recommendations on a possible move by “next year’s meeting in September.” “Several of our credit unions in the Oklahoma City area feel that since the state capital is Oklahoma City, we should be there as well,” said Bob Bianchini, president/CEO who acknowledged being close to lobbying activities is a factor in a possible relocation. He said “had we started from scratch today, we probably would have located the offices in Oklahoma City.” The League Board said it would look at “the cost of such a move as well as potential staff losses,” since a move “of this size could not be made overnight and would have to be phased in.” The Tulsa-based staff has 15 employees with 22 as the total including a full time director of governmental affairs with offices in Oklahoma City plus six auditors who live in various communities across the state. The proposed relocation comes as new staff leadership of the League takes over in February with the retirement of Bianchini to be succeeded by Lisa Finley, executive vice president.
