Langley Federal Credit Union, Newport News, Va Director of Internal Audit Robin Fitchett has been presented the 2004 Terry McEachern Internal Auditor of the Year by the Association of Credit Union Internal Auditors. In just two years, Fichett has constructed a team of auditing professionals who have increased productivity and improved the overall relationship of the audit department with other areas of the credit union. Security Service Federal Credit Union, Boerne, Texas, was recently voted the “Best of the Best” among banking facilities in the City of Boerne by area residents. The honor came as a result of a reader’s choice contest that allowed local residents to voice their opinions on their favorite businesses in town. SSFCU received top honors for its friendly and exceptional service to members. Security Service’s Boerne staff was featured in a special issue of The Boerne Star, the local newspaper, which revealed the city’s top businesses for 2004. Pacific Resource Credit Union, Los Angeles, Marketing Coordinator Andy Tien has recently been awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the City of Los Angeles. Tien was honored for his outstanding efforts in the “7th Annual Hope for Firefighters Event.” In addition to helping staff Pacific Resource Credit Union’s beverage booth to quench the thirsts of the more than 4,000 people in attendance, his individual efforts helped to raise over $1,436 in sponsorship donations. All funds raised went to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Widows, Orphans and Disabled Firefighters Fund. State Employees Credit Union, Raleigh, N.C., has been recognized by Visa for its exceptional card operations performance. SECU’s Card Services department has been presented two national Service Quality Performance Awards. SECU was awarded “best in class” in the categories of Highest Chargeback Effectiveness Rate and Lowest Copy Request to Sales Ratio for its tier-institutions processing Visa sales volume of $2 billion-$5 billion. Visa awards financial institutions that achieve a high level of excellence over the entire calendar year, not just on strong performances over the course of a few months. Point Loma Credit Union, San Diego, President/CEO Ted Dennis has been presented the Ed Callahan Award by Financial Service Centers Cooperative, Inc. (FSCC). Dennis was recognized for his passion and vision for credit union shared branching. The Ed Callahan Award recognizes credit union executives who have demonstrated commitment to the shared branching in the community. With the award, Dennis received an official, personalized Dodgers jacket. Dennis has served as President/CEO of Point Loma Credit Union for more than 8 years and also served as FSCC Board member and Vice-Chairman for 9 years. Seven Seventeen Credit Union, Warren, Ohio, has demonstrated its dedication to members by hosting a Member Appreciation Day. The fun-filled family-friendly day included hot dogs, ice cream and kids account mascot Dollar Dog. In addition to having their picture taken with Dollar Dog, kids that opened an account received a Dollar Dog t-shirt along with their official Membership Card and Dollar Dog Doghouse Savings Bank. The Howland High School cheerleaders helped with the children’s activities at the Larchmont office, which included a Tiger Bounce and carnival games with prizes. Visions Federal Credit Union, Endicott, N.Y., has been awarded first prize for both the Louise Herring (Philosophy in Action) and the Dora Maxwell (Social Responsibility) Award by the New York State Credit Union League. The Louise Herring Award was presented to Visions for demonstrating the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People”. School presentations were held at many high schools located within the communities it serves. The 1st place Dora Maxwell Award was presented to Visions FCU for its efforts in community involvement. GECU, El Paso, Texas , President/CEO Harriet May has been honored with the 2004 Professional of the Year Award by the Texas Credit Union League (TCUL). May was singled out for her outstanding accomplishments for the credit union, the credit union movement, as well as her outstanding personal accomplishments. May has been employed by GECU for 30 years and she is the former TCUL chairman. May currently serves on the Texas Mexico Task Force, PULSE EFT and Town North Bank.
