FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – The Texas Credit Union League has joined the handful of leagues that have the capability of accepting online PAC contributions. The Texas League launched a Web site – https://www.tcul.coop/Contribute_Online.html – for contributions to its Political Action Committee. Currently fewer than 20% of Texas CUs participate in TCUL PAC. Gretchen Ziegler, TCUL PAC Director, said the League wants to encourage credit unions to participate in TCUL PAC. "Offering online contributions provides a fast and convenient way to do this," she said. In 2004, TCUL PAC estimates it will raise more than $200,000 which it said is a new record. But Texas bankers give over $1 million a year annually to Texas federal and state candidates. "Online contributions are another tool in our arsenal to help us grow our political influence," said Ziegler.
