MADISON, Wis. -The recently concluded CUNA Technology Council Summit saw the election of a new executive committee member and a re-election of officers. Gordon Gregory, vice president of technology for Mazuma CU in Kansas City, Mo. was named to the council’s executive committee after Dan Kinne, vice president of information technology for Silver State Schools Family CU in Las Vegas, Nev., stepped down from the council’s executive committee. A re-election of board officers occurred. The following are the Council’s new officers: * Chair – Jim Morrell, vice president of information systems for iQ CU in Vancouver, Wash.; * Vice chair – Tom Kroen, assistant vice president of information technology for First Technology CU in Beaverton, Ore.; and * Secretary/Treasurer – Brian Warfel, senior vice president of sales and service for Power 1 CU in Hialeah, Fla. One of the hot-button issues at the conference was protecting systems. “Security was on the top of everyone’s mind and presentations covering multiple layers of defense to incident responses were highlights in this area,” said Morrell. Bill Finkelstein, managing director for the Financial Services Internet Business Solutions Group at Cisco, delivered the keynote speech. He encouraged attendees to become member centric and to align their credit unions’ business objectives with information technology initiatives.
