TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Everyone does annual reports, but few do mid-year reports. Southeast Corporate FCU decided to send its members a mid-year update on the corporate’s progress. But a paper-based report wouldn’t do – the corporate created a dynamic CD titled “Momentum 2004″ that takes members on a visual ride through the latest happenings at Southeast. “It’s very different than a traditional annual report. We wanted to be able to be more high-tech, reflect the technical side of the company and actually give them a tour of the products themselves,” said Southeast’s VP of Marketing Ellen Davies. Showing its technical prowess, the corporate created the CD completely in-house, which cut production costs to about $2 per CD, including shipping. It sent out over 1,500 CDs to its 440-plus member credit unions. Craig Hauger, Electronic Media Manager for Southeast, said the CD was produced in Macromedia Flash, giving it animation capability. The corporate also used one of its investment professionals, David Lowe, to narrate the CD. Lowe has some radio experience. One unexpected surprise came from the CD. Davies said a number of members contacted the corporate looking for more information about one or more of the products described on the CD. Davies said getting leads wasn’t the goal, but it was a nice byproduct and may spur the corporate to do more CDs. It’s already planning one for its new consulting services.
