PASADENA, Calif. – Wescom Credit Union's 2004 Speaker Series continues with two of the state's leading economists – Kathleen Connell and Peter Navarro – examining the economic policy issues of the two presidential candidates and the subsequent impact to Southern Californians. Titled "Politics, Policies and Your Pocketbook, Bush or Kerry: Is There a Bottom Line?" Connell and Navarro's presentation will address social security, retirement, the stock market, taxes, trade, jobs, health care, and more. Connell was elected California's controller in 1994 and served until 2002. She is also the founder and chair of the Center for Finance and Real Estate at the John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. Connell teaches a class in international finance at the Haas School of Business at UC, Berkeley. Navarro, a business professor at UC Irvine, is an author on the topics of macroeconomics and its impact on the financial markets. He is the author of the book, If it's Raining in Brazil Buy Starbucks. The presentation will take place 7-8:00 p.m. on Sept. 29 at the Hilton Pasadena here.
