HUNTINGTON PARK, Calif. – Financial Partners Credit Union has joined forces with Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-Calif.) and the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund to host the U.S. Citizenship Workshop, to help local residents apply for naturalization. While Financial Partners CU is known for its community outreach, this is the first time it has partnered with such high-ranking leaders to aid those seeking to change their citizenship status. "This workshop was a chance to provide guidance and encouragement to those working to better their situation. Naturalization and financial security are top priorities in reaching their goals and it is our job as a leading credit union to let them know what their options are," said Orlandus Waters, senior vice president/government and community relations, Financial Partners CU. The two-hour long workshop included such free services ranging from completion of the naturalization application N-400 and photographs, to review of the Naturalization packet for delivery to the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services. As a result of the workshop, some 200 legal residents who have had their permanent resident cards for more than five years have now applied for Naturalization. "We took a positive step in helping people in our community," said Beckie Delgadillo, director of branch operations. "Our job doesn't start and stop at the teller window."
