FORT WORTH, Texas – EECU is counting on kids being ready to play ball. The $539 million credit union has recently purchased naming rights to a kid’s area in the stadium of the local minor league baseball team the Fort Worth Cats. The newly named EECU Kid’s Zone is a playground area located at the Fort Worth Cats Home-LaGrave Field. “We’re excited about this opportunity and partnership with the Cats. If you’re familiar with Fort Worth, you’re familiar with the Cats. They are a legend in this city. Baseball is a sport that draws a lot of families, and EECU supports organizations that cater to families and the youth of our communities,” said EECU COO Lonnie Nicholson. The three-year deal, which kicks off with the 2005 season includes signage facing the field and a special EECU Pack the Park Night. “One of the most exciting opportunities for us is that a child will be recognized each game as the EECU Most Valuable Kid,” said EECU Director of Public Relations Jan Smith. “The child chosen will be able to go out onto the field, receive a baseball and get to make a trip to the dugout to get their favorite player to sign their baseball. What a thrill that will be each game for some lucky child.” Over 1,000 tickets will be handed out during EECU’s Pack the Park Night to invite children that might not otherwise have an opportunity to attend a baseball game. In addition, the Fort Worth Cats mascot will be joined by EECU’s children’s mascot, Dollar Dog his wife Penny, and their son Half Dollar to meet and greet kids.
