LAS VEGAS -Community One Federal Credit Union wants consumers to think before they drink and drive. The credit union has teamed up with local KLAS-TV in a driver safety-awareness program. The series of public service announcements, the first of which was broadcast over the Fourth of July Holiday weekend, will focus on those times of the year when the incidence of DUI-related accidents is the most prevalent. The series will continue over the next several months and into next year; airing over the Labor Day weekend, the Christmas and New Year season, Memorial Day, and again on Fourth of July 2005. Las Vegas is a prime market for this public service message. In addition to being a popular tourist destination, it is also the fastest growing city in the U. S. The growth has lead to ongoing expansion of both streets and freeway systems making traffic safety an important issue within the city.
