JACKSON, Mich. – American 1 Federal Credit Union has made life a lot easier for one lucky member. Twenty-three year old Katie Walker, is the winner of the credit union's $1,000 Gas Giveaway promotion. As part of American 1′s recent End of Summer used vehicle sale, Walker's name was entered in a drawing when she financed a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am with the credit union. Although anyone who attended the sale had the chance to win, she walked away the big winner. Walker says she will put the $1,000 in gas to good use. "It certainly takes the gas part out of my budget," Katie Walker says. "It helps me out financially in so many ways." An intern for Novi's Parks and Recreation Department, Walker will graduate from Central Michigan University in December with a degree in commercial recreation. With all the driving she does – to her internship, and to visit her parents back home every other weekend – Walker says the 10 $100 gas cards will keep her new Grand Am on the road. Walker's previous car broke down a week before the American 1 vehicle sale, prompting her to finance the shiny maroon Grand Am.
