NEW YORK-Congressman Tom Reynolds (R-N.Y.) is becoming an important figure with credit unions and their lobbyists. Prior to the start of the Republican National Convention, the New York State Credit Union League held an event featuring Reynolds handing out child identification kits. At the RNC, he spoke during an event CUNA and the league held at Montauk Credit Union officially kicking off the distribution of the kits. CUNA also hosted a salute to the New York Republican State Committee delegates featuring Reynolds and Governor George Pataki. Thursday morning of the convention, a couple of CUNA lobbyists had breakfast with him. CUNA Legislative Affairs Manager Linda Gualtieri explained the reason for all the attention. "He chairs the National Republican Campaign Committee so he has a lot of influence with candidates and with the issues and raising money for candidates. This is a great way for us to get involved with folks that are running for office, looking for support and assistance, and learning the issues," she said.
