First Service Federal Credit Union, Columbus, Ohio has raised $5,820.70 for the Children’s Miracle Network during its first annual golf tournament. Nineteen foursomes participated in the golf scramble to help raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network with proceeds to benefit Columbus Children’s Hospital. Golfers enjoyed 18 holes of golf, lunch, dinner, and a silent auction. The silent auction included items ranging from autographed sports memorabilia to dinner and hotel packages. Germain Lexus of Dublin provided a 2004 Lexus for a hole-in-one prize. Vantage Credit Union, St. Louis, Mo., has helped hundreds of area foster care children head back-to-school with brand new tools for learning. Vantage CU has collected 7,276 new school supplies for the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition of Greater St. Louis. The Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition is a not-for-profit agency that strives to create permanency in a foster child’s life by recruiting and supporting foster/adoptive homes. The agency serves 13 counties in Missouri and Southern Illinois. American Airlines Credit Union, Fort Worth, Texas, has raised over 1,000 pairs of socks, 500 pairs of children’s underwear, and 400 toothbrushes to help in the Airline Ambassador’s Humanitarian Mission to Guatemala. The mission to Guatemala teams up Airline Ambassadors with American Airlines to distribute new wheelchairs and hundreds of pairs of shoes, socks, and underwear to many living in poverty in this beautiful country. The group will present 280 wheelchairs in a special ceremony with the First Lady in Guatemala City, then head into the countryside for a large-scale distribution of the other items. Neighbors Federal Credit Union, Baton Rouge, La., members and employees helped raise over $6,800 for the American Cancer Society at the recent Relay For Life event in Baker. As the event’s first ever “Gold Sponsor,” the credit union organized three teams of walkers who worked for two months to raise money in a variety of ways. In all, the Relay For Life of Baker collected more than $18,000 to aid the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer. Chaco Credit Union, Hamilton, Ohio, has mailed over 40 care packages to troops stationed overseas. Staffers collected items during their “Support Our Troops” donation drive. Members donated items ranging from notebooks, pens, personal items, cell phones and snacks.
