ARLINGTON, Va.-Another House Financial Services Committee member has added his name to the list of speakers appearing at NAFCU's Congressional Caucus at the end of this month. Congressman Artur Davis (R-Ala.) recently joined NAFCU's speakers list, which already includes House Financial Services Committee Chairman Mike Oxley (R-Ohio) and Committee Member and long-time credit union supporter Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.). Also appearing at Caucus on the legislative side is Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), who is expected to introduce financial services regulatory relief legislation this month. Senator Jack Reed (D-R.I.) is the most recent lawmaker to join the list of speakers. Reed is a member of the Senate Banking Committee, as well as the Armed Services Committee. NAFCU Director of Legislative and Political Affairs Brad Thaler also described him as a support of credit union issues. Reed joins an esteemed list of speakers, including Treasury Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions Wayne Abernathy, NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson, and NCUA Board Member Debbie Matz. Fred Grandy, formerly Gopher on Love Boat and a U.S. Congressman, is keynoting the event. Others on the agenda include Federal Reserve Board Governor Ed Gramlich; N. Gregory Mankiw, White House Council of Economic Advisors chairman; Treasury Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions Wayne Abernathy; NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson and Board Member Debbie Matz. NAFCU's Congressional Caucus is scheduled for Sept. 26-29 at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C.
