NEW YORK – With two of the top lobbyists for the Utah League of Credit Unions as delegates to the Republican National Convention here, one of them, Spencer Stokes, of Salt Lake City who previously served as an officer of the Utah GOP, got himself quoted in the New York Times about the need for delegates to come to Ground Zero to see the site for themselves. Stokes, a former county commissioner and a League consultant, was joined here by Scott F. Simpson, president/CEO of the League and the former executive director of the state's Republican Party before taking the League job a year ago. Stokes said he was worried that many people have “forgotten” 9/11 making it imperative delegates “come down here.”
