Rhode Island Credit Union League, Warwick, has awarded People’s Credit Union member Maria C. Monti a $500.00 scholarship. Monti was selected based on a variety of criteria including the academic performance, financial need, extracurricular activities and the quality and content of an essay that addressed her intended major field of study and career goals. Macomb Schools and Government Credit Union, Clinton Township, Mich., has announced the winners of a new scholarship fund in honor of one of its long-standing board members, Rudolph Heino. Each award grants recipients $2,000 toward college expenses. This year’s winners include: Christopher Corteg, Sarah Inda, Kaitlin Moore, Carolyn Obrecht, and Jayme Zott. Discovery Federal Credit Union, Wyomissing, Pa., has awarded two $500 Scholarships to CU Succeed Teen Club members Heidi Schaeffer and Jessica Volpe. Discovery supports teen education in all areas and especially seeks to assist young CU Succeed Teen Club members in their endeavors toward higher education. Recipients were recognized for their academic achievements and community service. Gwinett Federal Credit Union, Lawrenceville, Ga., has awarded a total of $27,500 in scholarships. Nine $1,650 Legacy Scholarships went to high school seniors who will be majoring in education and plan to return to Georgia to teach. These scholarships honor past and present board members who have served for over 20 years and credit union employees who have 30 years or more of service. Another ten $1,100 Founders Scholarships honor the seven individuals who founded GFCU, and are awarded to adult credit union members to assist them with their continuing education expenses. Additionally, GFCU funds a tenth student scholarship in the amount of $1,650 to honor Louise Radloff, a member of the Gwinnett County Board of Education since 1973. Premier Credit Union, Platine, Ill., has awarded twelve scholarships to credit union members and/or their children. Each student received $1,500 to aid in continued studies. The students were awarded based on their academic achievements and community involvement. This year’s recipients include: Donna M. Werling, Faith S. Strege, Christopher Earl Entwhistle, Michael Thomas Van Acker, Sarah M. Desprat, Morgan M. Dwyer, Kerstin A. Workman, Haley B. Strege, Lindsey A. Cokkinias, Melinda A. Sierzega, Natalie J. Prochnow and Krista L. Chin.
