FLINT, Mich. – Financial Plus Federal Credit Union’s latest branch here has created quite a buzz. Designed by Cincinnati-based design/build firm DEI Inc., the branch, which is being touted as the first high-tech, high-touch full-service branch in the region, serves as a focal point of a busy intersection, with its tower atrium and illuminated glass front. Based on the sport-oriented, youthful demographics of the area, an “extreme sports” theme was incorporated throughout the interior via bright floor to ceiling “super graphics” and motivational messages designed to invoke the spirit of achieving goals and the determination to succeed. The tower atrium extends through the center of the building and acts as a common space that connects the two wings. The right wing houses the “first impression person” (greeter) and member service representatives. The left wing includes the employee lounge, teller area, and a Community Assembly Room that can double as a Disaster Recovery Area with high technology capabilities providing a shelter for staff and the local community. The facility is also equipped with a back-up generator to keep the facility operational. In addition, a wall of high-tech studio tellers, dubbed “Power Play,” replaces the traditional teller line and is highlighted by energetic graphics. A telephone and television monitor allows members to see and speak with a teller to transact business.
