CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The adoption of data warehousing technologies is growing sharply, according to Forrester Research. The think firm's quarterly data warehousing survey found that more than two-thirds of the 170 participants in a major industry conference plan to increase spending on the technology at their organizations. Driving the spending are the emergence of open source, discounting by vendors and other cost reductions due to improving server-price performance, as well as off-shoring, according to the Forrester Report. “Workloads that could not have been imagined or only dreamed about five years ago are within reach and at costs that are not trivial, but still highly competitive,” the report says.
