SALT LAKE CITY-The judge in the Utah field of membership case has set a new date for the hearing. The hearing in the lawsuit the American Bankers Association, the Utah Bankers Association, and four area banks have brought against NCUA has been moved from Oct. 5 to Oct. 7. The banker groups and banks are suing NCUA for its approval of Tooele, American First, Goldenwest and University of Utah Federal Credit Unions to serve a six-county community charter field of membership surrounding Salt Lake City. CUNA, NAFCU, the Utah League of Credit Unions, and the four credit unions have filed as intervenors in the case in support of NCUA. The ABA and the other banking groups are suing under the Administrative Procedures Act, charging that NCUA's actions were "arbitrary and capricious."
