Pacific Resource Credit Union, Los Angeles, Calif., has helped raise $1,436 during the 7th Annual Hope for Firefighters Event. Pacific Resource sponsored and staffed a beverage booth to quench the thirsts of the more than 4,000 people in attendance. All funds raised went to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Widows, Orphans and Disabled Firefighters Fund. Air Academy Federal Credit Union, Colorado Springs, Colo., staffers and CEO/President Glenn Strebe shaved as part of a fundraiser for the American Heart Association Heart Walk. Winning the top mid-size and top newcomer awards, AAFCU raised more than $9,000 with heart sales to members and staff. In the end, six employees ended up shaving their heads, two employees shaved their mustaches and three employees agreed to quit smoking. Sacramento Valley Chapter of the California Credit Union League, Calif., has donated $2,500 to the Stanford Home for Children during a corporate coed softball tournament. Two credit union-sponsored teams, along with 20 company-sponsored teams, raised a total of $43,000 for the Stanford Home for Children, a private, nonprofit local organization that provides services for vulnerable children and their families.
