HARAHAN, La. – The 66 credit unions in Louisiana which NCUA has designated as low-income should benefit from a seminar presented by the Louisiana Credit Union League that is designed to help train them. The NCUA awarded the League a $9,000 Technical Assistance Grant to help conduct a seminar three times in different locations in the state that low-income credit unions can attend. “We wanted to be pro-active and go to our credit unions,” explained Alicia Toups-Blanda, communications manager for the League. “Rather than making them come to us.” Toups-Blanda said that the League will offer one of the seminars in the northern part of the state, one somewhere near the middle and once in the New Orleans area. Exact locations have not yet been chosen, she said, but the seminars will take place sometime during the month of October.
