MADISON, Wis. – This year's International Credit Union Day scheduled for October 21 will revolve around the theme Credit Unions: Dream… Belong… Achieve. Selected via an online poll on the World Council of Credit Unions' Web site, the theme demonstrates to potential and existing members the unique role of credit unions in their lives. CUNA's Web pages for ICU Day are in place and contain this year's artwork, along with educational and promotional materials for ICU Day. In addition, a variety of free planning resources are also available online, ranging from credit union statistics, sample press releases and letters to the editor to various marketing ideas. Credit unions are also encouraged to submit their celebration suggestions to CUNA to help other credit unions generate ideas. "For 56 years, credit unions around the world have come together on ICU Day to illustrate the community spirit and the vital role of credit unions," said CUNA President/CEO Dan Mica. "As the number of credit unions and credit union members continues to grow, ICU Day is a great way to welcome these new faces into our community, build further awareness of credit unions and strengthen the overall credit union movement." For more detailed information about ICU Day visit the CUNA Web site at www.cuna.org and type "International Credit Union Day" in the search box.
