MIRAMAR, Fla. – To help victims of Hurricane Charley start rebuilding their lives, Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union is making it easy for members to donate to the American Red Cross. The $1.8 billion credit union has set up a special hurricane relief fund that members can directly transfer to from their account. Funds can also be transferred via the phone or dropped off at any of the credit union's 19 branches. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of Hurricane Charley and we will do whatever we can to help these people get their lives back to normal,” said Eastern Financial Florida CU President/CEO Stephen McGill. “As a credit union, it is our ongoing mission to put resources back into the community and I can't think of a better time to give back than now.” As the money is collected it will be disbursed directly to the American Red Cross, which is providing the bulk of relief services to storm victims. In addition, Team Council, a group of staffers who raise money year-round for various community projects is planning an employee-based initiative to provide ongoing support for Charley victims.
