HARRISBURG, Pa. – Congressman Tim Holden (D-Pa.) used his visit to the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association last week as an opportunity to thank credit unions for their support and to stress the importance of "staying politically active and keeping in touch with your elected officials." Rep. Holden also urged credit unions to continue to talk with their members of Congress and their senators. "Don't take anything for granted," he told them on Aug. 16. Holden is a co-sponsor of the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act. He told credit union leaders he met with that the remainder of the legislative session will be tight because of November's elections. With a $455 billion deficit, any legislation other than military and homeland security issues, will be controversial, he said. Other appropriations will most likely be delayed until after the November election, and then will become part of the lame duck session.
