WASHINGTON – Jeffrey H. Butland, a SBA regional administrator, died on Aug.1 after suffering a heart attack at his Cumberland, Maine home. Butland, 53, was the regional administrator for Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. “Jeff was an invaluable resource for the SBA and a dedicated advocate for small businesses across New England,” said Hector Barreto, SBA administrator. “His legislative and business experience was vast, and the enthusiasm with which he tackled small business issues was infectious. To him, working for America’s small business owners wasn’t just a job: it was a cause. His energy, his knowledge, and his passion made him a familiar face as he traveled tirelessly across the northeast to make good on what he truly believed was a mission.” Barreto said “the entire SBA family is grieving over the tragic loss of Jeff Butland” and “he will be missed sorely by all of us.”
