The amount of news being made by credit union corporates is exploding. It seems to Editor Paul Gentile, who is the Credit Union Times point person for the corporate news beat, that not a day goes by where one or more corporates doesn't do something that is worthy of prominent coverage in our news pages. Credit Union Times was the first to create corporate special reports (like the one featured in this issue beginning on page 24) throughout the year to spotlight corporate news developments. Before long, these reports were increased to one per quarter as the news generated by and about corporates exploded. We have reached the point where even quarterly special reports on corporates are no longer enough to cover that important segment of the credit union industry. For example, with Check 21 just around the corner, technological breakthroughs coming rapidly on the scene, mergers, expansions, new member services, and a pro-active Association of Corporate Credit Unions leading the charge, watch for the corporate beat to expand even further and faster. Now corporates are likely to turn up somewhere in the news hole of almost any issue of Credit Union Times. It is therefore not surprising that many corporate CEOs have told Gentile that no publication does as thorough a job of reporting on the credit union corporate world as this publication. We appreciate the compliment and will strive to live up to it in all future issues. [email protected]
