NASSAU, Bahamas – The World Council of Credit Union is expecting more than 1,000 people to show up at its 7th International Credit Union Leadership Institute and Annual General Meeting, being held this week at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, Aug. 1-4. WOCCU had initially expected 800 attendees. Registrants for the four-day conference are from 37 countries. Speakers who will address the conference are also drawn from an international contingent. Among the names are: from the U.S., Mary Martha Fortney, NASCUS President/CEO; from Canada, Kim Andres, Credit Union Central of British Columbia VP, Credit Union Development; Bertha Clough, regional manager, Coast Capital Savings CU, B.C., and Kevin Zakus, VP, business services, Vancouver City Savings CU, B.C.; from Jamaica, Glen Francis, CEO, Jamaica Cooperative Credit Union League . In addition, a panel discussion entitled “Undertaking a Strategic Analysis for Competitive Advantage” and moderated by Manuel Rabines, WOCCU Board Secretary and CEO of Federacion Nacional de Cooperatives de Ahorro y Credito del Peru will feature John Gilbert, CEO, Credit Union Services Corp. Ltd, (Australia) and Ramon Imperial, president, Caja Popular Mexicana (Mexico).
