MONTPELIER, Vt. – Joseph G. Bergeron, president of the Vermont Credit Union League, has been elected to a three-year term to serve as the District 1, Class D representative of the CUNA Board of Directors. District 1 encompasses all the New England states, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico. Bergeron, who has been president of the Vermont league for 22 years, replaces John Murphy of Maine and becomes one of six CUNA directors to represent credit union leagues. At the official start of his term on Oct. 26, 2004, Bergeron will join Dick Ensweiler of the Texas Credit Union League, who serves as chairman of the board; Tom Griffiths of the Iowa Credit Union League; Gary Wolter of the Alabama Credit Union League; and Director Elect Robert S. Walls Sr. of the Delaware Credit Union League. The term of Kenneth Watts of the West Virginia Credit Union League ends in 2004.
