ARLINGTON, Va. – NAFCU reported recently that it has added N. Gregory Mankiw, White House Council of Economic Advisors chairman, and Treasury Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions Wayne Abernathy to its growing list of officials to take the stage at its 2004 Congressional Caucus. NAFCU has called on former Iowa Congressman Fred Grandy (Gopher from The Love Boat) to keynote the event. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), who is in charge of writing regulatory relief legislation in the Senate, has also agreed to speak. In addition, House Financial Services Committee Member Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.), Democratic leader on the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 3579), accepted NAFCU's invitation to address the group. On the regulatory side, NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson and Board Member Debbie Matz will speak, as well as Federal Reserve Board Governor Ed Gramlich. The dates for NAFCU's Congressional Caucus are Sept. 26-29. It is being held at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C.
