JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Judge Richard Callahan postponed until Aug. 4 at 3 p.m. reviewing motions filed by the bankers concerning credit union field-of-membership expansion. Judge Callahan was originally supposed to review the motions July 27, but Amy McLard, VP, public/legislative affairs for the Missouri Credit Union Association, said he decided to postpone it one week because he hadn't read the briefs that were filed. McLard also said the judge only intends on Aug. 4 to look at the bankers' motion to request a declaratory opinion that the Missouri Credit Union Commission exceeded its statutory authority when it created definitions of field-of-membership. Credit unions have prepared their own motion to dismiss the bankers' motion.
