WARREN, Mich. – Deidra Williams, EVP and Chief Operations Officer of the $184 million METRO CU since 1996, has been named the CU's new president/CEO. She succeeds Kevin O'Connor who held the position through May 2004. Prior to working at METRO CU, Williams worked as an auditor with Cindrich, Mahalak, and Co., P.C. and as a controller for E & A CU. She earned her bachelor's degree in accounting and master's degree in management from Walsh College, as well as graduated magna cum laude from St. Clair Community College with an associate's degree in business administration. A native of Yale, Mich. and currently living with her husband and their children in Sandusky, Williams is an active member of CUES and also serves on the board of director for Member First Mortgage LLC, a CUSO representing over 30 Michigan CUs with $3 billion in assets and 400,000 members statewide, and the Van Dyke Public Schools Foundation for Excellence.
