“Some of our members have told me that they feel we’ve thrown in the towel but that’s not the case,” – Bob Dorsa, NACUSO president on the Association’s more than two-year effort to include CUSOs in an SEC proposal that recently extended broker/dealer exemptions to credit unions. “Our idea was to get a product that would put us on members’ short list and give us the opportunity to talk with them. Even if it was eventually determined that the portable mortgage wasn’t suitable for the member, it gets them thinking about their circumstances and puts us in the position to give them guidance on selecting a mortgage product.” – Bill Jenkins, marketing manager, Sunmark FCU, explaining the CU’s thinking behind is new portable mortgage product. “When you move to the real-time world, the convenience is staggering.
