COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Faced with rising mortgage interest rates and an appreciating home market, Ent FCU has introduced two 30-year fixed-rate Fannie Mae InterestFirstT mortgage programs that allow members to make interest-only payments for the first years of their fixed-rate mortgage, consequently freeing up cash for other uses. The two products are InterestFirst 10/20 and InterestFirst 15/15. The second product, for example, begins with the 15-year interest-only period followed by a 15-year fully amortizing period. Starting in the 16th year, the buyer's monthly payment changes to include both the principal and interest due. Ent FCU's Director of Mortgage Lending Jon Paukovich said the InterestFirst products could appeal to the credit union's military members who move frequently, as well as small business owners who often have variable cash flows. Ent FCU has nearly $1.7 billion in assets and 161,000 members.
