BOCA RATON, Fla. – The $630 million IBM Southeast Employees' FCU, headquartered in Boca Raton, has joined Allpoint, the nation's largest ATM network which does not surcharge cardholders. "When one of the main reasons consumers join a financial institution is ATM access, it is very hard for credit unions to compete with banks such as Bank of America and Wachovia," Psillas added. Credit unions which join Allpoint negotiate and pay a flat fee based on their card base and transaction levels. Allpoint passes a portion of this income to Cardtronics, the independent service organization whose network Allpoint uses.
