RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – The California Credit Union League beat out 400 entries and received a silver award in the first annual Magnum Opus Awards for the League's manual for credit unions on understanding the multifaceted Hispanic community and how to best provide native- and foreign-born Latinos with financial services. The Magnum Opus Awards are sponsored by Publications Management, a monthly newsletter for marketers, in cooperation with the Missouri School of Journalism. The award is the only professional awards program dedicated solely to custom publications. "The Hispanic Manual: Serving the Latino Community," which was researched by the CCUL's research and information department, and written and published by the publications department, received the award in the best overall editorial category. The manual presents comprehensive information about the Hispanic market, to serve as a continued resource tool, and to answer various questions California and Nevada CUs may have concerning offering financial services to the Latino community. Judges from the faculty of the Missouri School of Journalism, from leading custom-publishing and marketing agencies, and other professionals, named winners in 105 categories, including eight Magnum Opus Grand Award winners, the higher honor available.
