ATLANTA – Credit Union Direct Lending and Manheim, the largest and highest volume wholesale automobile auction company, are in the early stages of working together to develop a package for CUDL-credit union members to provide CUs a simplified source for remarketing vehicles. Jon Schrock, national accounts director for Manheim said he's been talking with CUDL since early April, although he had some earlier informal discussions with CUDL officials at credit union conferences. Schrock said CUDL was interested in learning about the remarketing side of the business, and Manheim wanted to learn more about CUDL CUs "to find areas to enhance the remarketing value for their credit unions." Schrock emphasized that the discussion between Manheim and CUDL are still in the early phases. "We have an overall vision what we want to put together, and we'll be working diligently to put something together," he said adding there's no target date at this point. "These things always take some time," he said. Manheim sold 5.2 million vehicles at Manheim auctions in 2003; approximately 18,000 of those were credit union vehicles.
