DENVER – To help credit unions compete with bigger budgeted banks, marketing/ advertising firm the Agency Off Record, Inc. has launched a new division dedicated exclusively to credit unions called Members and Profits. The division, with its own Web site www.membersandprofits.com offers a selection of results-oriented turnkey marketing strategies and campaigns that can be customized to fit credit union needs. "It's something we've been developing over the past nine years," said AOR Inc. President/Creative Director Beth Wampler. "Basically credit unions can spend less on marketing and get proven effectiveness without having to reinvent the wheel." Wampler says the campaigns focus on meeting specific measurable objectives with a member focus. Once a credit union selects a campaign it has exclusive rights in the market for one year. According to Wampler, pricing is based on credit union size to help ensure that smaller credit unions have access to marketing materials that can fit their budget. While the agency is constantly developing new promotions so far campaign categories focus on helping CUs bring in traditional CU loans like new and used autos as well as emerging areas like home equity products, to promotions that help attract new members. Each category offers up to 12 different campaigns. The ready-to-go campaigns are usually created in conjunction with a client that is using it so that results can be tracked. Wampler says only those that worked "exceedingly well" make it to the "campaign store". The latest campaign in the works is a combination promotion for both home equity loans and lines of credit with a three-dimensional mailing. "We know that one size does not fit all so we work with the credit union to find a way to tweak the campaign to make it work for them," said Wampler. As a full service agency AOR, Inc.'s team of five can also create a campaign from the ground up. All work is done in house from copywriting and design to production. In addition, the agency offers member surveys, training and Web site design. Wampler and her partner Oscar de Crdenas ran an in house ad agency for a local bank until it was bought out in 1992. "We decided it was a great time to live out our dream and start own ad agency and one of our first clients was a credit union," said Wampler. "We enjoyed working with them and never stopped."
