DANVILLE, Pa. – William Lavage, CEO of Service 1st FCU, never met a major league ball park he didn’t like, but he wants to meet them all. Lavage and his 18-year old son Aaron are on a quest to visit all 30 major league baseball ball parks. “We started talking about visiting all major league ballparks sometime in 2001. Our first major trip was in 2002 and included Wrigley, Comiskey, Comerica and Jacobs Field,” said Lavage. Lavage, a die-hard New York Yankee fan, saw his first major league game in New York at Shea Stadium (home of the New York Mets) in 1967. His first visit to Yankee Stadium came in 1968 – the Yankees have been his favorite team since first grade back in 1961. So far Lavage has seen games in 19 major league ball parks. By the end of the year, he expects that number will be up to 24. In fact at press time Lavage was taking a week off for his annual baseball trip. He was scheduled to see games in Denver, Phoenix, San Diego and Los Angeles. “Other parks we’ll be visiting for the first time this year are Great American in Cincinnati, Citizens Bank Ballpark in Philadelphia and Olympic Stadium in Montreal. I doubt the Expos will be playing in Montreal much longer so we want to get this one under our belts,” said Lavage. One of the most memorable moments during this quest to see all the parks was when All-Star New York Yankee short stop Derek Jeter flipped a ball to his son Aaron. “The look on my son’s face was as they say `priceless’ “, said Lavage referring to the popular MasterCard commercials. The family tradition may be growing. Lavage said his wife Cindy of 20 years and his 13 year-old son Danny are also catching the fever. “We have been to Yankee and Fenway as a family. This summer we will all be going to PNC and Great American Park,” he said. [email protected]
