“During the next 12 months, will you increase your deployments of the following technologies?” Spending on IT hardware, software and services is picking up steam among the nation’s big employers, a harbinger of things to come for smaller enterprises, including credit unions, as the economy continues to regain momentum. That’s according to a survey completed in March by Forrester Research. The Cambridge, Mass., think firm polled IT decision-makers at 878 large operations in North America – about half with 1,000 to 5,000 employees and half with 5,000 or more. It found that 2004 spending on IT is ahead 2.4% on average over last year, up from a 1.7% projection made at year’s end, according to Forrester Research analysts. The boost is coming from finance, insurance and business services firms and tends to focus on information management technologies such as portals and content management, mobile network and security, according to the Forrester analysts.
