West Community Credit Union, Brentwood, Mo., recently awarded five $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors. Applicants were evaluated on grade point average and class rank, ACT or SAT college entry exams, curriculum and extracurricular activities, financial need, and personal and school recommendations. This is the ninth year West Community has offered the scholarship program. This year’s winners include Matthew Wegescheide, Amanda Moscal, Allison Singh, Matthew Blosser, and Matthew Saunders. Robins Federal Credit Union, Warner Robins, Ga., has awarded five scholarships totaling $5,000 to local high school seniors. Students selected as the Most Excellent Senior Team are chosen based on academic performance, community involvement, extracurricular activities, and financial need. Recipients will each receive a one-year, $1,000 scholarship to help further their education. This year’s winners include Charlotte Okie, Kimberly Eckles, Louis Castellano, Caleb Dunnam, and Brian J. Knight. Denali Alaskan Federal Credit Union, Anchorage, has awarded a total of $10,000 to 10 students. Award recipients were selected based on outstanding scholastic achievement, community involvement and leadership abilities. This year’s $1,000 scholarship recipients are Rachel Bernstein, Patricia McClory, Lael Wilcox, Blake Langdon, Cole Stapp, Michelle Chung, Sarah Brettrager, Lindsey Heiserman, Jennifer Jemison, and Emily Phillips. Hanscom Federal Credit Union, Hanscom AFB, Mass., has recently awarded five John F. Condon scholarships. Lauren Coletta, Valerie Jones, Meghan Joyce and Emily Osborn were each awarded $1,500 for education expenses. The scholarship honors John F. Condon, a member of the Hanscom FCU board of directors from 1963 to 1989 who was deeply involved in community service. Citadel Federal Credit Union, Thorndale, Pa., has awarded $1,000 Future Business Leader Scholarships to Jonathan Beech, Katarzyna Dobrzanska, Christine Duranza and Christopher Louis. Applicants were judged on a 500-word essay about credit unions. Memphis Area Teachers’ Credit Union, Tenn., has awarded 21 $2,500 scholarships. The annual scholarship contest is held by MATCU to benefit students who plan to pursue a career in the field of education. Since the contest began five years ago MATCU has donated $102,500 for the benefit of future educators. Each scholarship has the potential of being worth $10,000 to an individual student over the course of four years if winners continue to meet requirements.
