WASHINGTON – In the next couple of months, NCUA will be announcing a new partnership with Operation HOPE, a group that promotes financial literacy and empowerment. According to Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO John Bryant, the group has taught 130,000 kids about saving in nine states, 15 cities, and Washington, D.C. “We’re the largest capitalist county in the world and don’t teach our children financial literacy,” Bryant pointed out. The group has about 200 bank and a couple of credit union partners working with them. Alliant Federal Credit Union is currently partnered with the group and they were working with another credit union to sign up, Bryant told Credit Union Times. Approximately 2,000 bankers, insurance professionals, credit professionals, and credit union officials volunteer with Operation HOPE through Banking on our Future. The organization has been working to educate consumers on financial literacy for a decade.
