MALVERN, Pa. – Former NCUA Chairman Dennis Dollar spoke at the recent 2004 AFTECH Client Conference in Cancun, Mexico. AFTECH is a Fiserv credit union data processing subsidiary. Dollar talked tough on wide-ranging issues that not only summed up NCUA achievements in recent years, but predicted "interesting times" ahead for the nation's credit unions. Acknowledging the financial strength of the credit union system, he predicted that credit unions of the future would be just as strong, but that there would be far fewer of them. He added that most of the loss in numbers would come from the disappearance of small credit unions. AFTECH's annual client conference brings together senior executives of credit unions nationwide to discuss technology strategy. The theme of this year's conference was "The Power of One Team."
