PASADENA and EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Wescom Credit Union and Unocal Federal Credit Union have announced merger plans. As part of the deal the $115 million Unocal FCU will operate as its own division within Wescom CU and will continue to serve members under the Unocal brand. In addition, all Unocal FCU staffers will remain employed as part of the Wescom CU team. “Operating Unocal as a division of Wescom builds on the Unocal brand and the goodwill the credit union has established with its members over its 69-year history,” said Wescom CU President/CEO Darren Williams. Wescom CU currently ranks as California's sixth largest credit union with $2.5 billion in assets, over 218,000 members and 26 branches. Unocal Federal Credit Union's existing branch locations in El Segundo, Rodeo, and Orcutt, Calif., and Sugar Land, Texas, will remain open and current Brea, California-based members will be served by Wescom CU's La Habra branch.
