VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Tidewater Telephone Employees Credit Union filed an application on May 27 with the Virginia Bureau of Financial Institutions to expand its field of membership to include the community of Hampton Roads. The estimated population of the community, according to the 2002 U.S. Census, is approximately 1.1 million. Tidewater Telephone ECU currently has more than 6,300 members, and it has $35 million in assets. Its FOM currently includes employees and their families of the communications industries in Eastern Virginia.
