YADKINVILLE, N.C. – Self-Help Credit Union was one of several participants at a recent small business education conference. The Entrepreneurial Conference 2004, sponsored by the Greater Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce, took place last week and drew many who turned out to get information on starting and marketing a business, budgeting and finance and access to other free resources for company upstarts. Ruth Gale Cruise of Self-Help Credit Union held a seminar on small business education. Eileen Joyce of the Small Business Administration gave an overview of the agency's program and Bill Dowe of Forsyth Tech's Small Business Center here talked about starting a business. The impetus for holding the conference came from an economic study that among other areas, highlighted business opportunities in Northwest North Carolina, officials said.
