BEAVERTON, Ore. -Credit unions in Oregon and Southwest Washington have raised more than $1 million this past campaign year for Credit Unions for Kids, a Children's Miracle Network program that benefits children's hospitals in the Pacific Northwest. The Credit Unions for Kids program is the third highest fundraising organization for CMN, behind Wal-Mart and RE/MAX International. Only 90 credit unions in Oregon and SW Washington participate in the program. "I am truly amazed at the level of commitment from our credit unions to the Credit Unions for Kids program," said Credit Unions for Kids Co-Chair Cindy Barrick, CEO of Electra Central Credit Union. "It is incredible the amount of money raised from just a handful of dedicated people who understand the importance of people helping people." Since 1986, credit unions throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington have collaborated to raise money for the Credit Unions for Kids through such activities as bake sales, selling candy bars and raffle tickets, and hosting wine auctions and golf tournaments.
