GAITHERSBURG, Md. – Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union is among the latest to educate small business owners about SBA lending. The $203 million credit union, along the with U.S. Small Business Administration, recently participated in the SBA Loan Fair at the University of Maryland Shady Grove Center in Rockville here. The purpose of the fair was to bring lenders and local businesses together to discuss the lending programs available to help businesses in Montgomery County grow and create more jobs. Mid-Atlantic FCU was the only not-for-profit financial organization offering business lending services, according to Frank Amantia, the CU’s vice president of commercial lending. Fourteen other financial institutions were represented at the fair. “Since small businesses employ a significant percentage of Montgomery County’s workforce, facilitating small business growth ultimately provides financial support to the community,” Amantia said. Credit union participation in the commercial lending market provides small business owners with an opportunity to get the services they need that are usually only available to well-established larger businesses.” Mid-Atlantic FCU, an SBA approved lender, serves more than 20,000 members.
