ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA recently launched its new Express e-mail service, which will allow credit unions to obtain information from the agency faster and direct it to the right people. “Express was designed to be a resourceful tool for expediting information and will enhance the agency’s communications with credit unions,” NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson said. When NCUA issues a document, the Express alerts subscribers and provides a link to it. Subscribers, currently limited to authorized federally insured credit union representatives, manage their own password and can direct information to the appropriate people within the organization. The new Express service is free of charge and all federally insured credit unions can subscribe at www.ncua.gov. “Express service offers federally insured credit unions the opportunity to receive most NCUA publications electronically within hours of release rather than waiting days to receive a hard-copy document through the mail,” Johnson explained. “In addition, this tool offers flexibility to assist credit unions in managing the flow of information by providing need-to-know documents simultaneously to numerous officials within the credit union. This is another way to improve efficiency and maintain wise use of agency resources.” NCUA’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Office of Examination and Insurance, and Office of the Chief Information Officer worked in concert to develop the new electronic delivery tool. It offers retrieval of information in 18 different categories of NCUA publications.
